The 2010 World Cup of Hockey will be the twelfth in the series World Hockey Men's Cup. On November 14, 2007 International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced that the championship was held in India, to be held during two weeks of February 28 on March 13, 2010 in New Delhi Dhyan Chand National Stadium [1].
Teams
Twelve teams in total will compete in the tournament. [2] To be eligible, each of the five continental confederations champion and the host has received an automatic berth. Three teams qualified for the championship Hockey Nations. The last three places were determined by qualifying tournaments, with the winner of each promotion to the World Cup.
Qualifying Tournaments
Three tournaments of the World Cup were made in 2009. Pakistan won the first tournament held in Lille, France From 31 October to 8 November 2009. The hosts, New Zealand, won the tournament, held in Invercargill, November 7 in November 15, 2009 [3]. The third tournament was played in Quilmes, Argentina, from November 14 to November 22, 2009 [4] was won by the hosts, Argentina.
